Now this is small

Small, isn\'t it?

I’ve seen 3 of them this past weekend alone. Intriguing vehicle, but it’s only rated by the government as getting 37MPG (though Smart states they can get over 50 with city driving).

Costing, ball-park, $17k for anything decent, the price is still steep for such low gas mileage (if it is eventually rated at 50, I’d be happy with it’s MPGs) and no room (one of the ones I passed had two grown men sitting shoulder to shoulder crammed in like sardines). You’re almost better getting a Toyota Camry or Carolla to have the extra space and slightly lower MPG (27/29 city, 35 highway).

I guess it all depends on what you are looking to accomplish with your car. If it’s only used for commuting and not for people hauling, a Smart would be a decent option. It would probably make a good second car.

I’m a wide person. I rode around in this one and found the interior to be surprisingly large and almost “roomy”.

I think the slow shifting is a bit strange, but it might be better once it gets broken in and can be “manually” shifted.

I like the fact that you can parallel park safely by pulling straight in to the parking spot. Saw that maneuver several times over in Europe.
