Now that I think about it, maybe that’s why the pros always seem to be able to get to shots so easily.

Trials for the US Men’s team to compete at the Pan American Squash Championships in Medellin, Colombia, this September are taking place this weekend at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Michigan.

With Mike Puertas and Jamie Crombie already guaranteed their places, Ryan Donegan, Chris Gordon, Gilly Lane and Beau River are competing for the remaining two spots on the team that will be managed by Chris Walker.

Singles Champion Transfers to Stanford University.

has learned that Lily Lorentzen, who as a Harvard freshman
this past winter became only the fourth collegian (preceded
by Gail Ramsay of Penn State in ‘77, Demer Holleran of Princeton
in ‘86 and Jessica Dimauro of Penn in ‘96) ever to win the
women’s Intercollegiate Individual championship as a freshman,
is transferring to Stanford University this coming September.

BOSTON – June 21, 2006 – From the hallowed halls of Harvard
to the iconic confines of world-renowned Boston Symphony Hall, U.S.
Open Squash has had some very impressive homes. And this year is no
exception.

The prestigious tournament will move to the Back Bay Events
Centre and onto the stage of the comfortable, 1100-seat John
Hancock Hall. Plans are also underway to increase the PSA-sanctioned
menÂ’s division of the Open to Super Series level, thereby ensuring a
stellar field of competitors and “Top Ten” status on the men’s World

weekend of June 8-11, which was held at the prestigious Los Angeles
Athletic Club

The ball can reach speeds of up to 170mph and players can burn off up to 1000 calories per hour of squash – higher than most other sports.

Illingworth starts as #1 Seed for
National Event at
Worldgate

US college star and
current National’s champion Julian Illingworth will start as #1
seed in the $10000 US team selection event  which starts
next Thursday June 8 at Worldgate.   Michael Puertas,
Jamie Crombie and  Chris Gordon round out the top four.
Four (p)lucky locals, Sean Doherty, Peter and
Phil Sopher and Jake Gross have made the draw and are taking on
the big boys. Come cheer them on at Worldgate 8-11 in the play
to position tournament.

Squash Weekly Tips

Welcome to my weekly tips…
As you may have heard, all PSA (professional tour matches) are now being contested with a new scoring system in place, which is…point-a-rally scoring to 11 points, rather than to 15 points. At 10 all, a player would need to gain a two point advantage to win, i.e. 12/10, 16/14, etc.
